Summer Bioinformatics Training Program Registration Form:
Summer Bioinformatics Training Program: Starting on June 14th, 2018
Today we are opening registration for the upcoming Summer Bioinformatics Training Program at Amity University (Jaipur, India) . The program will start June 14 and last through July-August, providing students and faculty access to online resources and practical experiences analyzing large biomedical datasets. Online materials will be reviewed in interactive sessions and on-site workshops.
Throughout the program, participants will have an opportunity to discuss and practice studied topics and analysis methods. We will review major types of Next Generation Sequencing data types (i.e. genomics, transcriptomics and metagenomics) and analysis methods, as well as applications of bioinformatics to research and clinical questions.
During the planned courses and workshops, conventional statistical methods of analysis, machine learning concepts (supervised vs. unsupervised methods, dimension reduction, classification, feature selection, etc.) and annotation methods will be studied. During the second part of the program, all participants will have an opportunity to engage in an independent project based on curated public-domain datasets.
Schedule for the Summer Program
- Week 1: Preparation.
Faculty training and introduction to T-BioInfo platform and online educational resources, preparation of the student cohort and coordination of live sessions
- Week 2: Introductory course and pre-assessment
Introduction to Big Data Bioinformatics
- Week 3: Transcriptomics 1
Transcriptomics 1: From raw reads to an expression table – basics of processing NGS data
- Week 4: Midterm evaluation and project announcement
Midterm assessment of challenges and student progress, adjustment of expectations
- Week 5: Transcriptomics 2
Transcriptomics 2: Dealing with RNA-seq data – differential gene expression and beyond
- Week 6: Transcriptomics 3
Transcriptomics 3: Machine Learning for Transcriptomics data
- Week 7: Project week
Selection of prepared projects for students groups, Q&A session with students and poster preparation
- Week 8: Post-assessment, project presentation to faculty and discussion of outcomes
By the end of this Summer Bioinformatics Training Program, participants will be prepared to read and understand typical methods used in cutting edge research publications and learn to deal with complexities of data processing, analysis and visualization. We will also be discussing exciting applications for bioinformatics in basic and clinical research and discuss independent or group collaborative research projects that can be prepared in a short time.
The Summer Bioinformatics Training Program is supported by Amity University, Jaipur in collaboration with Pine Biotech. Registration is available at nominal rates for the complete summer course or for workshops that will be held at Amity University, Jaipur and online.
Certification: Summer Bioinformatics Training Program participants will receive a certificate of participation from the Amity University, Jaipur and Pine Biotech. The certificate will be emailed after the workshop.
