Online Bioinformatics Training has transformed me from Oblivious to Engaged
As an undergraduate student of Bioinformatics, I find Pine Biotech’s course Introduction to Bioinformatics very informative and descriptive, with easy to understand content and ample glossary to explain the more technical terms to any layman.
This course explains how the high throughput data changed the way we work in the field of biology and life science, and how Bioinformatics has helped clinicians, scientists, and researchers (as well as industries like Pharma and Biotech) to leverage big molecular data in “data driven discovery”. Here I learned about the way data, technology and computing are changing the way we study biology from a data perspective.
The course also focuses on enabling a non bioinformatician or a student of any other domain (like biological sciences, biotechnology, biochemistry, medicine, etc.) to learn about what Bioinformatics is and what are its applications in the field of healthcare, agriculture, pharmacology, public defense and more. It goes beyond theory, preparing the learner to think of application and use of these approaches in the real world.
The case studies of application of Bioinformatics in such fields lays the foundation of why we must consider studying “Biology as Data Science”. As an undergraduate student, I was excited to continue learning after completing this course.
