Sara has been learning bioinformatics using the edu.t-bio.info site starting in July, 2019. She is a forensic scientist with a background in biomedical sciences. She graduated as Program Director Professional Science Master in Forensic Science from Florida International University, Miami, Florida, United States of America. She is involved in projects that use transcriptomics, proteomics, and epigenetics to study age-at-death estimation or determination of post-mortem interval.

We also asked Sara why she joined the Omics Logic Program and this is what she had to say:
“I joined the OmicsLogic Data Science program to learn and understand how to analyze NGS data. I would like to incorporate this technology into my projects and I am looking forward to apply what I have learnt in this program!”
The OmicsLogic Biomedical Data Science program covers three main aspects of data analysis: exploratory data analysis, data mining, and machine learning. Computational skills are learned in the context of various biomedical topics, ranging from precision medicine to drug discovery. The aim of the program is to enable individuals to analyze large and complex data sets, build processing pipelines, and use data mining techniques to identify meaningful trends in high throughput data.
Participants also learn how to communicate analysis results and design predictive models. Working on independent projects, program participants learn to generate insights through visualization and explain how they used machine learning models. The program is conducted using the interactive, T-Bio.info platform that allows users to use complex algorithms and big datasets. The user-friendly interface allows users without any background understand analysis results and download processed data and scripts for further analysis and visualization in Excel and R.
