Increasingly, researchers anticipate to gain insight into a problem from high-throughput biomedical data like whole genome and transcriptome. This is the sentiment expressed by over 730 participants that took a survey in the online survey hosted by edu.t-bio.info.
This survey represents a portion of over 2500 students that have taken the edu.t-bio.info modules to learn about data and analysis methods that are becoming widely used by biologists, clinicians and lab technicians. RNA-seq blog published a similar survey focusing on the challenges met when dealing with such data. The majority of the responders identified analysis as the primary challenge.
That is why we believe that education is a critical component in translating the repositories of large scale data into useful resources for research and eventually, discoveries in medicine, biotech and pharma.
To take the survey, you can join the “introduction to bioinformatics” course on this website: https://edu.t-bio.info/course/introduction-bioinformatics/
